{"id":154,"date":"2018-06-10T03:08:38","date_gmt":"2018-06-10T03:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nccphilippines.org\/hrdefenders\/?p=154"},"modified":"2018-11-20T03:13:59","modified_gmt":"2018-11-20T03:13:59","slug":"central-luzon-human-rights-defenders-trained-on-evidence-gathering-preservation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nccphilippines.org\/hrdefenders\/2018\/06\/10\/central-luzon-human-rights-defenders-trained-on-evidence-gathering-preservation\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Luzon human rights defenders trained on evidence gathering, preservation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty-two human rights defenders based in Central Luzon participated in the training on evidence gathering and preservation which they can use in documenting cases of human rights violations.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day training which was led by the National Union of People\u2019s Lawyers was held on May 11 to May 13, 2018 in San Fernando, Pampanga.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Maribelle Uminga of the NUPL discussed the basic crime scene operations in human rights related cases. She showed the methods on the conduct of crime scene investigations.<\/p>\n<p>On the second day, Prosecutor Uminga and Atty. Carlos Montemayor, also from NUPL, discussed the importance of forensic sciences in the investigation of human rights related cases.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop required participants to interview victims and witnesses and to manage a mock crime scene.<\/p>\n<p>The last day of training had Atty. Montemayor present the gaps in the Philippine crime scene investigation system and considerations in the search of missing persons.<\/p>\n<p>The participants were also given an input on the updates of human rights situation by Cristina Guevarra of Hustisya.<\/p>\n<p>Atty, Kathy Panguban of NUPL gave a presentation on people\u2019s lawyering, highlighting the difference between people\u2019s lawyering and other legal advocacies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twenty-two human rights defenders based in Central Luzon participated in the training on evidence gathering and preservation which they can use in documenting cases of human rights violations.
