The National Council of Churches in the Philippines together with it’s consortium partners National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL), Pagkakaisa ng mga Biktima para sa Hustisya (HUSTISYA), BULATLAT.COM, Kalipunan ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan sa Pilipinas (KATRIBU)) presented its accomplishments under the project “Confronting Challenges on Human Rights Defenders in the Philippines” funded by the European Union.
“Through the three-year implementation of the project the consortium was able to conduct various education and training activities for human rights defenders, organizing national and international advocacy, campaign and lobbying activities and providing direct services like sanctuaries and other forms of assistance to victims and families of victims of human rights violations”, said Mervin Toquero, Acting Program Secretary of the Program Unit Faith Witness and Service, NCCP, and the Coordinator of the project.

“We were able to do this with the assistance of the European Union and the trust accorded to us by human rights defenders and some of our beneficiaries present here today.”
