[ NCCP Liturgy for Migrants Sunday 2026 ]
In observance of NCCP Migrants Sunday, we offer this worship liturgy for use by our member churches. It may be adapted in part or in full for congregational gatherings and worship services. Churches are also encouraged to create space for testimonies from migrant workers, allowing their voices and stories to be heard within the community of faith.
This year’s commemoration calls the church to intentionally remember and uplift the lives, dignity, and struggles of Filipino migrants across the globe. We draw particular attention to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other migrants in the Middle East who are caught in situations of crisis and conflict. In this light, we join the urgent call to “Protect the Lives and Welfare of OFWs and Migrants Affected by War and Conflict.” At the same time, we reaffirm our solidarity in calling for the freedom of Mary Jane Veloso, who remains unjustly detained.
We enjoin all member churches to meaningfully observe Migrants Sunday through worship, theological reflection, and active engagement with migrants and migrant advocates. In doing so, may we deepen our collective understanding and strengthen our shared commitment to justice, peace, and the protection of migrants’ rights.
We also extend our gratitude to those who contributed to this migrant liturgy: Rev. Rhalyn Inhog (UCCP), MAPEC – Masbate Provincial Ecumenical Council, Jerson Maniti (UMC, NCCP), Benny F. Mendoza (Episcopal Church in the Philippines), and Ms. Rebecca Lawson (Promotion of Church People’s Response).
For theological and practical discussions on the plight of migrants in both land-based and sea-based, the NCCP remains available to support and accompany your churches.
NCCP Migrants Sunday, established in 1995, is observed annually on the Sunday closest to March 17, the death anniversary of Flor Contemplacion. This occasion calls us to remember, honor, and stand in solidarity with Filipino migrants worldwide, affirming their dignity and continuing struggle for justice.
