The National Council of Churches in the Philippines expresses its commitment to celebrate, promote, support and work for the welfare of our Indigenous Peoples as our response to the faithfulness of our Creator God who created us all in God’s image. In view of this, we would like to share the Liturgical Resource Material for our annual celebration of the Indigenous Peoples Month this coming month of October.
With the theme “Breaking the Shroud of Oppression, Gathering at the Banquet of Life and Ancestral land,” our celebration complements that of the 2026 celebration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (IDWIP) – Philippines that carries the theme, “Our Struggle is Just! Defend our Ancestral Land! Assert our Rights and Self-Determination!”
Our theme revolves around two scriptural passages – Isaiah 25:1-9 and Matthew 22:1-14. This material comes with a Biblico-Theological Reflection, a collection of litanies and prayers, a sample liturgy, a 4-week adult Bible Study series, and a workshop module for youth. A companion material translated into Filipino/Tagalog is also attached. For those in the Visayas and Mindanao, a Cebuano translation is currently in the works and for those who want a copy, kindly send your request through email.
